9 months of 2021
According to the results of 9 months of 2021, the total turnover of bilateral trade between Ukraine and France was 2102.3 mln. USD (+27.9% compared to 9 months of 2020). The growth is due to a strong increase in exports (+51.6%) and imports (+21.9%) of goods, however, the export of Ukrainian services has an insignificant increase +2.2% (see Table 1). The foreign trade surplus for Ukraine is negative and amounts to -660.6 mln. USD.

According to the State Statistical Service of Ukraine
The main Ukrainian goods exported to France in 9 months of 2021 were: fats and oils of animal and vegetable origin (15.4%), oil seeds and fruits (14.9%), residues and wastes of food industry (14.6%), ferrous metals (8.3%), wood and wooden objects (6.4%), reactors, boilers, machines (4.7%), clothes and accessories, textiles (3.7%).
According to the results of 9 months of 2021, there is a decrease of an important Ukrainian export product like clothes and accessories, textiles (-28.4%). However, there is a positive trend in other trade products: ores, slag and ash (in 4 times), ferrous metals (in 3 times), electrical equipment (in 2 times), oil seeds and fruits (+70%), furniture (+70%), railway locomotives (+43%), ferrous metal products (+77.3%).

According to the State Statistical Service of Ukraine
Imports of French goods to Ukraine in 9 months of 2021 consisted mainly of various chemical products (15.0%), means of land transport other than railways (11.9%), pharmaceuticals (10.7%), nuclear reactors, boilers and machinery (8.6%), essential oils (8.4%). The increase in French imports of +22.8% was due to the increase in the supply of all types of goods.

According to the State Statistical Service of Ukraine
As for the bilateral trade in services, the value of services provided by Ukraine to France during 9 months of 2021 was 139.8 mln USD (+0.7% compared to the corresponding period of 2020). The main Ukrainian export services to France are telecommunication services, computer services (46%), transportation services (23.4%), business services (21.2%) and material resources processing services (5.9%).
It is worth noting the positive trends in services provided by Ukraine in the field of telecommunications, computer and information services (+7.7%), while exports of transportation services fell sharply (-14.3%).
French companies provide in Ukraine transportation services (28.5%, dynamics of +21.7%), business services (25.6%, dynamics of +39.9%), telecommunication services, computer services (13.8%, dynamics of +79.8%), other services related to financial business (10.5%, dynamics of +20.7%), royalties and other services related to the use of intellectual property (10.0%, dynamics of -5.3%). In total, in the 9 months of 2021, French services imports to Ukraine increased by 32.4% to USD 103.7 mln.
The balance of trade in services with France is positive for Ukraine and amounts to USD 36 mln.
At the end of the first half of 2021, direct investments from France to Ukraine amounted to USD 1143.5 mln (+105.3 mln USD compared to 2020 results). The largest amount was invested in financial and insurance activities (USD 414 mln). The largest investments were in financial and insurance activities (USD 414 mln), wholesale and retail trade (USD 241.8 mln) and processing industry (USD 146.7 mln).
